JULIAN WATT

Welcome to the hood Julian! Can we call you Jules?! Mmmm. Maybe it doesn’t suit you. Your photos are too sophisticated for the name ‘Jules’. To much colour, and conceptual thought. You’re great. We stoked to have you, your swag of awards (Adfest, CCA’s, Clios, Award, NY Advertising Festival and more) and 20 years of shooting wisdom on board the C.I. team. We love your work.

THE LEOPARD STORY

‘The shot was taken in Namibia where our guide took us to his friends house to see their “cat”. I didn’t really see the big deal at the time, thinking “cats?” pfft we got plenty of those back home. I had a change of heart however when I walked onto their property and it came out of the house and B lined straight towards me.  Ahhh…”CAT!”.

Anyway, the story was that the mother was found pregnant and in bad health on the property where she died before she could give birth to her three cubs. Our two hosts had to perform a cesarian to make the delivery, but two died soon after, leaving the one in question as their new addition to the family. It became very attached to its new Mother and Father and followed them everywhere, including the bathroom where it watched as they went to the toilet. After time it began to mimic them and is now the norm everytime Mother nature calls.  On learning of this I suspiciously asked if they could let me know when it next went to the bathroom so I could get a shot. Out of respect for it’s privacy, it is the only frame I took.’

Check out some more shots from his exhibition below, and take the virtual tour here.
